Our Vision: SLBDC is committed to helping the Lambton County community expand its economy.

Mission Statement: Work closely with private and public sector partners to assess local economic problems and to look at new ideas and opportunities to strengthen Lambton's economy.

Invest in new or existing Lambton Businesses to assist them with start-up, expansion or stabilization plans to faciliatate long-term job creation or/maintenance.

Provide critical high-quality products and services to businesses and entrepreneurs including Business Counselling, Entrepreneurial Programs, Reference Library and Internet Access.

Community Futures Development Corporations in Ontario

Local solutions for local economies


Your CFDC benefits the community and local business Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) offer services that help Ontario's rural and northern communities expand their economies.

As a community-based, non-profit organization, your CFDC is run by a board of local volunteers. It is staffed by professionals who encourage entrepreneurship and the pursuit of economic opportunity.

Through Industry Canada, the Federal Government provides funding, advice and support to a network of CFDCs across Ontario who carry out the following services:

  • community economic planning and development
  • investment in local business
  • business development and counselling services

  • Community economic planning and development

    CFDCs work closely with private and public sector partners in their communities to assess local problems and to look at new ideas and opportunities that could strengthen their economies. In consideration of the unique circumstances of the local area, they plan and help implement development strategies that are designed to build brighter futures for the communities they serve.

    Investment in local Business

    Through federal support, CFDCs administer local investment funds to assist new or existing small businesses with start-up, expansion or stabilization plans that help maintain or create jobs.

    Repayable financing of up to $150,000 on commercial terms through loans, loan guarantees or equity investments is available when financing from other sources is insufficient. All CFDC financing decisions are made at the community level through local boards of directors.

    Business Development and Counselling Services

    The experienced staff at your CFDC understands small business and the local marketplace. They provide important services to businesses and entrepreneurs that include:

  • business advice, counselling and referrals
  • help with business plans
  • export support
  • entrepreneurial training
  • information on relevant federal and provincial programs and services
